Isn’t it time, by the way, that we abandoned “swine” flu, which was always a misnomer (it might equally be called bird flu, or, since that’s its largest component, people flu), and started calling it pandemic flu? Or simply Flu, to differentiate it from ordinary, small-f, flu.
Anyway, I’ve surely had/still have something. The last two weeks I’ve felt horrible, a little fluey, snotty, achy, lethargic and with a respiratory infection, which is responding only grudgingly to antibiotics (purulent sputum with flu is a sign of a secondary bacterial infection, which I always get with flu and which, unlike the virus, responds to antibiotics).
So, have I had It? I honestly don’t know, but as I’m feeling crappy, wiped out, and depressed (I’m spending a lot, which is a sure sign of depression for me), as I often do after flu, I’m beginning to wonder.
If I have, it’s been less severe than a cold, but then many reports have come in from people diagnosed with it who barely knew they were sick. Which poses the question – how did they get diagnosed? So it’s certainly possible, maybe even feasible. It’s also possible that this is simply more crap from my recent pneumonia vaccine which has caused me far more grief than is even remotely sensible – there’s just no way of knowing. Update:- Based on the latest comment on the above post, it probably is the ‘kin vaccine, but watch this space.
However, as I can’t be sure, I intend to work on the premise that I haven’t had it, so I’ll stick the my planned precautions – see below** – and stay as safe as I possibly can. It’s pointless to take risks.
** If, like me, you have COPD, I recommend these two posts.
