“Clegg said the Tories would have introduced “draconian” welfare cuts if it had not been for the influence of the Lib Dems in the debate leading up to the autumn statement.” Thus the Guardian.
I have, as regular readers will know, speculated, at some length, on the sanity, or otherwise – mostly otherwise, I honestly believe – of those at the top of our government. And now I’m beginning to wonder about Clegg, too – is his close association with Cameron warping his view of reality and eroding his humanity? If, indeed, he didn’t cast aside both in May 2010.
It would seem so, because he quite clearly has no grasp of the havoc his, and his party’s, actions over the past two and a half years, as enablers of Cameron’s, Osborne’s and IDS’s absolutely , rabidly, draconian welfare cuts, have caused in the lives of many thousands of innocent people, with, potentially, millions more lives to be trashed in the future.
All of which amounts to nothing less than an attempt to destroy the welfare state, and the lives of those dependent upon it – and they’re not done yet.
The heinous acts you and your party have enabled Cameron to perpetrate will ravage this country for generations to come if, indeed, the damage can ever be undone, which is by no means certain, and yet you claim to think that none of what’s happened, and is scheduled to happen, is draconian?
So tell us, Nick, you self-obsessed, power-mad, unprincipled, dimwit, just what, exactly, would you consider draconian, if what you have already done apparently hasn’t kept you awake at night, thinking of the lives you have destroyed, are destroying, and have still to destroy?
Perhaps this will help: Draconian – excessively harsh or severe (re laws and their application) – source: ODE.
So, just one simple question – do you think the laws currently, and in the very near future, rendering many thousands of chronically sick and disabled people penurious, homeless, or driving them to suicide, are excessively harsh and severe?
If not, you really are as out of touch with reality as you are out of touch with basic humanity, and I wonder if, on any level at all, you have the self-awareness to understand that none of Cameron’s crimes against the most vulnerable people in this country could have happened if not for you. Every life ruined, or lost, can be laid at your door.
I hope you’re proud.
